FESTIVAL ABOUT DESIGN FOR LIVABLE CITIES
“reSITE is an international event that is committed to exploring collaborative ideas that make cities more livable. It is about partnerships for a better urban future in Prague. The festival will be centered on a two-day conference and supported by dozens of independently organized events. The spotlight will be on the under-utilized riverfront, urban mobility and public spaces.”
It has been a while since my last post , so I am back with a documentary about my city that I have seen last week and I would like to share.
From the second half of 2012 new electric buses will be tested on routes in Copenhagen. Model K9 is 12 meters long and 2,5 m wide. Compared to conventional buses reduces carbon emission by 55 percent and what is more, it does not spread any exhaust particles- and this could help to a lot of urban air environments quiet significantly. Based on internet sources, the battery charges 4 to 6 hours and with this charge the bus could pass a distance of approximatelly 250km.

What kind of “Big Apple” would New York be if they would not think green in their urbanistic plans?! The old railway between 10th and 11th avenue in Manhattan have been transformed into an amazing park- as many people call it: oasis of calm.

It is a solution for the country and for the climate change issues. The cities can be
improved in the 3 years, if there are responsibility and design. This is the concept of
Jaime Lerner, a Brazilian architect and urban planner, having been mayor of Curitiba, 3 times. He has a big participation of the design of the Curitiba master plan.
